HHF’s President and CEO, Antonio Tijerino, spoke at the Creative Thread Foundation (Fusion TV) Reception/ Press Conference on the Diversity In Media and the efforts that HHF is making in similar spaces.
Fusion TV announced last month the formation of the Creative Board to help identify and build a network of diverse talent. The board will be led by Professor Henry Louis Gates JR., with founding members including Oscar winners, Viola Davis, Ezra Edelman, Jodie Foster Meryl Foster and Grammy Award-Winning Artist Residente.
“FUSION TV Creative Board will work to identify the next generation of creators, and members of the board will also be involved in FUSION TV’s content development process and help curate stories that really connect to the nation’s youth. FUSION TV is focused on providing resources and a platform to creators, those creators who span different ethnicities, races, sexual orientations, genders and religions- to tell authentic stories that represent the shared values and passions of America’s diverse youth.” Fusion TV is working to find like-minded companies and non-profits to join and form an organization dedicated to promoting diversity in media and entertainment.
HHF is also doing work in very similar spaces, as HHF partnered with SHORTSHD this past year at the Hispanic Heritage Awards for the Hispanic Heritage Short Film Award Competition and the winners were announced at the 29th Annual Hispanic Heritage Awards. Over 900 film submissions were submitted and the two finalists received industry recognition, exposure to decision makers for TV broadcast deals and a round table discussion with studio executives and experts.
We are also entering our 19th year of our prestigious Youth Awards, which honor Latino high school seniors who excel in the classroom and community and for their focus in various categories including Media and Entertainment, among others! If you are interested in applying to the Youth Awards go here.
HHF’s mission is to always identify, inspire, prepare and position Latino leaders in the classroom, community and workforce to meet America’s priorities. HHF connects tens of thousands of students and young professionals to each other and to mentors and resources, where hundreds of minorities are placed into internships, mentorships, fellowships and full-time positions!
