Keone Hon
Engineering & Mathematics

A senior at prestigious Phillips Exeter Academy where he maintains a 3.90 GPA, Keone is of Mexican descent and plans to major in either math or physics in college. The highly accomplished academic has not yet decided where to attend but has enviable choices, having been accepted to Caltech, Harvey Mudd, Harvard, MIT and Stanford. Keone began doing recreational math in the seventh grade and says the hobby has played an important role in his life as is evident by his extracurricular activities. He is co-captain of Exeter’s Math team which has placed in 1st and 2nd place at the Harvard-MIT Math tournament the past three years and has qualified for the USA Math Olympiad four times, to list but a few of his achievements in this area. Keone also leads a community service club that focuses on environment clean-up and says his greatest challenge has been his work as co-editor-in-chief of The Exonian, his schools weekly newspaper. Keone cites his maternal grandmother as a role model for her optimism and perseverance and is grateful to his parent and grandparents for instilling him with the values of honesty, faith and humility as well as a deep appreciation of his Hispanic heritage.
