Brandon Garcia
Community Service

Jesuit College Prep senior Brandon Garcia is the Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards Dallas Regional Winner for Leadership & Community Service, sponsored by Dr Pepper.  The 18-year-old son of Diane and Robert Garcia believes improving the lives of others is part of a responsibility to ?pass on blessings? and hopes to serve as a mentor to youth and possibly become a teacher.  He would be a great example as a teacher judging by his long list of accomplishments in high school including: making Honor Roll all four years, overall GPA of 92 on a 100 scale, National Honor Society member, Student Council Award for Excellence, Junior Class President and Most Distinguished Member of the House at the National Hispanic Institute LDC Conference. However, Brandon is most proud of the ?Men for Others? Award he received the highest award of honor given at a Jesuit College Prep.  He was also active as Student Council Jr. Class President, Student Council Events Coordinator, Latinos Unidos, in addition he excelled in sports by making varsity track, lacrosse and crew.  In the community, he was active as a Jesuit Ambassador, Big Brothers mentor, Habitat for Humanity volunteer and taught seventh and eighth graders to appreciate the classics in literature through the Great Books effort.  Of Mexican descent, winning the Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards has made ?a dream become a reality.? Brandon attends Spring Hill College at Mobile, AL. He is still undecided about his major. He enjoys teaching others, but he is interested in the political world. His dream is to become a U.S. Senator.
