A senior at Miami Beach Senior High School, Rolland Alexander Bravo is the Silver Medallion 2006 Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards Miami Regional Winner in Arts and Culture, sponsored by Smithsonian Latino Center. Rolland, who can trace his roots to Cuba and Peru, started studying ballet at the age of seven. He started dance as an aspiring gymnast, but soon discovered that ballet was a passion that he truly had a gift for. In the years since, Rolland has received scholarships for, and studied at many ballet programs across the country including the San Francisco Ballet and the Pittsburgh Ballet Theater. In that time Rolland has dedicated himself to academics as well. He has a 5.33 GPA and is a member of the National and English Honor Societies. Rolland has varied ways in which he likes to give to his community including volunteering at the Miami Sun Post and the Miami Children’s Museum. |
