Mallorie Alyse Salazar, of Medina Valley High School in Castroville, is a 2006 Hispanic Heritage Award Gold Medallion Recipient in Sports. This outstanding varsity cheerleading captain is a member of the Who’s Who Among American Athletes, an NCA All America Cheerleader and a recipient of the Heart Award for varsity track and field. Mallorie strikes a beautiful balance of athletic talent, academic excellence and community involvement. She is the secretary for her school’s National Honor Society, two-time Student Council Historian, a member of the Future Farmers of America and an active member at her church. By participating in “Caroling for Cans,” a project that collects canned foods for the less fortunate; she’s helped elderly and the underprivileged. As part of “Project Ignition,” she’s leading a team organized against drunk driving to a national competition in Philadelphia, PA. Mallorie has been accepted to Baylor University where she will pursue a career in the medical field. |
