| With a 4.06 GPA, Jeanette Orta will graduate at the top of her class and has been recognized on her school’s Principals Most Distinguished Honors List for each semester for the past three years. Having witnessed, first hand, the disconnect between the disadvantage and the business sector, Jeanette has chosen to pursue an Economics degree in order to bridge the gap and advocate on the behalf of those in need. Inspired to join M.E.Ch.A. by her own Mexican ancestry and a moving presentation about the Chicano rights movement, Jeannete was elected as the President of her school’s chapter by a unanimous vote. Through this organization, Jeanette organizes community service projects and fundraisers. This year, Jeanette organized a wildly successful fashion show which allowed her to gain valuable experience both advertising locally for the event and working with local business owner. In preparation of the ownership of her own business, Jeanette will study Economics at the University of California, Davis. |
