A senior at the Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Science and Engineering Magnet Center, Braulio Galarza, is the Gold Medallion 2003 Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards Dallas Regional Winner for Mathematics, sponsored by ExxonMobil. Ranked number 4 in his class, Braulio excels in his studies, having been named an AP scholar at the end of his junior year. He is one of five children in a first generation immigrant family, and will be the first one to graduate from High School and go on to attend college. He is dedicated to his community, volunteering his talents to other student by tutoring them in areas of Mathematics and English. Braulio plans to attend college, and major in civil engineering, using his strong foundation in math and sciences to achieve his goal. As he states, ?my first priority is to make sure that I graduate from high school so that I can follow my long term dream of attending college . . .being the first one to graduate from high school and attend college is a very highly prestigious responsibility that lies on my back, for I will be laying the ground expectations for my brothers and sisters to follow in the years to come.?
