Christine Enid Nieves, a senior at Colegio del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús, is this year’s Philadelphia/New Jersey Regional Gold Medallion recipient for Leadership. As an active member of her school and community, Christine has organized and led school workshops in leadership training and has been instrumental in healthcare missions including her participation in fundraisers for cancer and domestic abuse victims. Ranked number one in her class, Christine has twice been recognized as Leader of the Year in the National Honor Society and as a Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholar at St. Louis University. Of Puerto Rican descent, Christine has a deep appreciation of her heritage. She says that she is driven by her desire to “help young Hispanics open their eyes to opportunities and possibilities that are often overlooked”. Christine one day would like to create an organization that will focus on reaching Hispanics all around the Americas to show them the true meaning of leadership, achievement and fulfillment. |
