Code as a Second Language (CSL) is a national initiative that was launched in an effort to engage, introduce youth to computer programming. The goal is to supply students with an introductory skillset of web-design and computer programming, while instilling an entrepreneurial spirit. CSL provides students with access to year-round leadership and workforce development opportunities.
Hispanic Heritage Foundation Investors Forum
The HHF Investors Forum is an initiative for Latino investors: trustees, investment staff, and asset managers. The Forum
1) provides educational content on investments and asset management best practices,
2) builds a diverse network of investors and asset managers, and
3) creates a pipeline of Latinos to grow into trustee and senior investment roles.
#LeadingConEducación Program
This multi-year educational program helps prepare young Latinos like you to take control of their finances through educational content, webinars, and hands-on experience through Intuit TurboTax simulation, a tax preparation exercise in Spanish and English provided by EVERFI. Building on the success of year one, #LeadingConEducación will double the number of scholarships from 20 to 40 in the amount of $2,500 to help with tuition or books or technology needed to complete a higher education.
Code as a Second Language en Español
Code as a Second Language (CSL) en Español is a new initiative being launched in an effort to engage, introduce and excite English Language Learners (ELLs) with Spanish as their primary language to computer programming. The goal is to supply students with an introductory skillset of computer programming and their application to core subjects, while creating online games. CSL en Español provides students with access to year-round leadership and workforce development opportunities.
SMART™ Student Health and Wellness
SMART (School Health Model for Academics Reaching All Transforming Lives) is an educational solution that aims to improve the trajectory of young lives in their pursuit of success in school in order to break the cycle of poverty. SMART deploys an Active Access strategy to deliver Active Care—integrative physical and behavioral health interventions, which reduce barriers to educational attainment. Melanie Ginn, President and CEO of Ginn Group Consulting, is the architect of the SMART Model. The flagship site and work of which was funded by CVS Health, and, now, Aramark has joined as a patron partner. The Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) has served as the SMART Model’s National Health Multicultural Advisor and fiscal agent since its inception in 2013 and continues to support SMART in serving school communities with diverse, at-risk populations. HHF also hosts SMART’s Annual Congressional Briefing and Symposium in Washington, D.C. as a platform for inspiring innovation, sharing best practices, and awareness of and outcomes delivered by the Model.
STEM Symposia
The leadership and workforce development program is free for attendees and provides career-path guidance, educational opportunities and connectivity for students and young professionals in the STEM fields.
