Mexican music superstar Gloria Trevi to receive the 2025 Hispanic Heritage Legend Award
WASHINGTON, D.C. -The Hispanic Heritage Foundation is proud to announce that Latin Music superstar GLORIA TREVI, hailed by Rolling Stone as “The Queen of Mexican Pop,” is the recipient of the 2025 Hispanic Heritage Legend Award. Trevi will be celebrated at the Warner Theater in Washington, D.C., on September 4, 2025 (alongside already announced 2025 honorees Cheech Marin, Felix Contreras, Julissa Prado and Rauw Alejandro) with the ceremony later airing nationally on PBS.
“Gloria Trevi is not just a musical icon; she is a cultural force whose voice has resonated across generations and borders,” said Antonio Tijerino, President and CEO, HHF. “Her fearless artistry, record-breaking tours, and unwavering advocacy embody the spirit of this recognition.”
“I am grateful for this recognition which, more than praising me, I believe honors the audience who for many years have made my music into hits that intertwine with their own stories,” said Gloria Trevi, 2025 Hispanic Heritage Awardee. “To them—who break generational and social barriers at concerts where they become one voice—I dedicate this honor. I receive it together with them, with great emotion, in times when this holds immense value for all Latinos who put our hearts into everything we do.”
Gloria Trevi is one of the most influential Latin female artists of all time. With over 30 million albums sold and 7 billion combined streams of her repertoire, along with multiple #1 albums, and induction into the Latin Music Songwriters Hall of Fame.
In the summer of 2023, Trevi released singles under her independent label, including “Medusa”, which topped the radio charts in Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, and Venezuela, and “Inocente,” which ended 2023 as the“ most listened-to song” at radio In Mexico. Her Bioseries “Ellas Soy Yo” became the most streamed original series on the Latin digital platform ViX, with a total of 6.3 million viewers who tuned in during its television premiere in Mexico, and inspired the launch of a three-volume compilation series, “Mi Soundtrack”, featuring her most iconic hits re-recorded and unreleased songs, each representing key moments in Latin America’s most successful singer-songwriter’s life.
In 2024, the Mexican icon celebrated her musical evolution with the “Mi Soundtrack World Tour,” celebrating her three-decade musical legacy. With captivating visuals, a cast of dancers, and a full live band, the tour ignited nostalgia and emotions, becoming a MUST-SEE spectacle and earning SOLD-OUT shows across the U.S., Latin America, and Spain As a result, Trevi holds the record as the Hispanic-American female artist with the highest number of sold-out performances in both Arena CDMX (13) and Auditorio Nacional (46),.and was recognized as one of Pollstar’s “highest-grossing touring female artists,” alongside Madonna, and Karol G.
With the arrival of 2025, Trevi has continued her prolific release schedule, first with the February single debut of “Q.E.P.D.”- which encourages listeners to cast away those that don’t value us, followed by the spring full album release “La Vuelo.” Billboard quickly praised the artistic range of the project- declaring it “serves as a testament to Trevi’s ability to reinvent herself dabbling with new styles and genres without losing her core pop sound… while all songs take on different sounds, one thing is consistent throughout the album, and that is Trevi’s knack for writing heart-wrenching lyrics about love, loss and freedom.”
Beyond Music, Trevi is a tireless advocate for the rights of women who’ve suffered domestic violence, is a committed advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, and has supported homeless children in Mexico and the U.S. through her Ana Dalai Foundation, contributing to the well-being and development of communities. She has also supported communities in times of natural disasters, especially people with economic hardships, not only with basic needs but also with essential resources for the affected families and their children.
