Program to Feature Actress Genesis Rodriguez, Teacher, and Six High School Students Selected from Hundreds of Regional Awardees and Thousands of Applicants
MIAMI, FL – Vme TV, the first national, Spanish-language television network in association with public television stations, through a partnership with and the Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF), broadcasted the 15th Annual National Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards Ceremony on March 28th at 10 p.m. EST (9 p.m. CST and 7 p.m. PST) as part of a goal to expand accessibility of quality educational programming for the U.S. Hispanic community by leveraging HHF’s award-winning programs and national initiatives, which focus on innovation and leadership in the classroom, community and workforce.
The first step in the relationship was the airing of the National Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards which will feature Actress Genesis Rodriguez, a teacher, and six high school students from across the United States who have been narrowed down from thousands of applicants to hundreds of regional awardees to the six national recipients. Through the broadcast and vignettes used for a public awareness campaign, the young leaders are positioned as role models and an example of the great promise of the Latino community as it continues to grow. The students, who carry an average GPA of nearly 4.0, are awarded in “priority fields for America” including science, technology, engineering, education, entrepreneurship and finance, and fitness. Vme will also promote role models, Hispanic accomplishments, and cultural pride through public awareness campaigns through the partnership with HHF.

Together, the organizations will develop, produce and broadcast special programming and capsules that will highlight the achievements of the Latino community and inspire the audience to advance their education and excel in the United States. In addition to the Youth Awards, Vme will highlight the mission of HHF’s LOFT (Latinos on Fast Track) which includes everything from teaching computer coding to symposia in STEM fields to encouraging youth to socially innovate using video gaming – reaching youth on their terms. The partnership will include the development and broadcasting of public awareness campaigns to inspire, empower and mobilize Latinos to thrive.
