HHF’s President and CEO, Antonio Tijerino, spoke at Amazon and Politico’s Future of Work Summit on The Future of the Workforce: Engineering Today’s Classrooms for Tomorrow’s Jobs. 

The panel included a deep conversation on what it will take to incorporate Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) for today’s classrooms so that students are prepared in tomorrow’s workforce.

Antonio stated in the panel, “There are half a million jobs that are laying dormant in tech….and 90% of schools don’t teach computer coding.”

HHF’s Code as a Second Language (CSL) initiative addresses these issues by hosting CSL Bootcamps, Academies, Jams, and LOFT Coder Summits in different cities across the country. CSL is a national initiative that works toward introducing youth to computer science and making technology training and careers accessible to women and underrepresented minorities.

HHF is committed to providing a technically skilled and diverse pool of talent to meet the demands of today’s growing technology companies. CSL’s unique ecosystem of talent has the potential to provide companies with highly qualified students and professionals that are trained to meet requirements of their  requirements.

CSL’s goal is to supply every student with an introductory skill-set in computer science as a doorway to more advanced programming languages. Students will have access to the LOFT Network to help them gain the skills, experience, internships, and fellowship opportunities to build the network needed to succeed in the workforce!
