The Hispanic Heritage Awards were established at the White House in 1988 to commemorate the creation of Hispanic Heritage Month in America. Recognized as “America’s Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration,” the Awards are supported by more than 40 national Latino-serving institutions and broadcast nationally on PBS. The Awards also mark the launch of the Hispanic Heritage Foundation’s (HHF) year-round mission focused on education, workforce development, societal impact, and leadership.
In its 39‑year history, the Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) will, for the first time, bring the historic Hispanic Heritage Awards outside Washington, DC, hosting the 2026 ceremony at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis.
Each year, the HHAs honor achievement, cultural pride, and visionary leadership across a range of fields, from STEM and education to entrepreneurship and the arts. Honorees include community leaders, youth trailblazers, and cultural icons.
