ExxonMobil LOFT Fellows: Where are they now?

The Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) has partnered with ExxonMobil for the last 16 years to promote young Latino leaders across the country! We want to take a minute to reflect on a few of our outstanding fellows and see what they have been up to. Meet 2016 ExxonMobil Fellow, Jeremy Kleiman!

HHF’s ExxonMobil Fellowship currently is one of the most distinguished fellowships in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields for Hispanic college students. Each year 25 students are chosen to participate in the mentoring program, where the student is paired with an experienced engineer, scientist, manager, to apply their knowledge in a corporate setting.

Jeremy said, “The ExxonMobil Fellowship has paired me with an amazing mentor who has taught me various essential elements for preparing myself for future internships, as well as professional developments skills for my transition into the industry.”

Jeremy is a Chemical Engineering student at the University of Florida. Jeremy’s mentor was Luis Ramirez- Arizmendi.  Luis mentored Jeremy, and showed Jeremy was what expected of the program, talked about professional development, and helped Jeremy with his resume and interview tactics, all important things to consider when preparing for a career after college.

Jeremy now works full-time on his campus, and is grateful for the experience he gained during his fellowship with ExxonMobil. “Always be out there and searching for internships and opportunities, even if it doesn’t end up working out, you always need a backup plan, and every opportunity you get is training, and always learn from the people you meet!”

Several meetings were set up with Luis, along with Jeremy’s participation in the on-line Harvard ExxonMobil mentee program, an exclusive curriculum to introduce her to the culture and career opportunities with the company educational grant.

ExxonMobil is one of the world’s largest companies and America’s leading Oil & Gas Corporation, and is working closing with HHF to provide young Latino leaders with the resources needed to succeed once these fellows graduate college and start their careers.
