HHF supported the 2017 FIRST Global Robotics Challenge Opening Ceremony, where 163 teams of high school students from 158 countries gathered together at DAR Constitution Hall this past weekend.

FIRST Global organizes a yearly internationally robotics challenge to embrace the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) among the youth across the nation and the rest of the world. FIRST Global inspires students and young people everywhere, including all backgrounds, languages, religions and customs. One team is invited from every nation to participate in the international robotics challenge.

“I’m inspired by the innovative minds and great energy of support between the team countries competing,” said President and CEO, Antonio Tijerino.

The Washington, D.C. HHF team proudly volunteered their time all last week for this special event that took place in Washington, DC this year. Seeing all of the diversity and the countries that were represented left our team members humbled and honored to have been part of such an amazing event.

“It was an honor serving team Guatemala on the competition as their Ambassador!” said Sabas Gomez, Administrative Events Assistant.

The Challenge continues this week with Closing and Awards Ceremony taking place tomorrow at 5:30 pm-7:00 pm EST. If you are interested in watching live, visit first.global/live.

Congratulations to all the students that took part in the FIRST Global Robotics Challenge!
