LOFT STEM Symposium at Cal State Dominguez Hills!
The Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) is hosting our first LOFT STEM Symposium of the year at California State Dominguez Hills on Monday, Feb 6 and Tuesday, Feb 7!
The LOFT STEM Leadership Symposium is a free leadership and workforce development program sponsored by the Army that provides career-path guidance, educational opportunities and connectivity for students and young professionals in the STEM fields.
Students and other young professionals listen and engage in exclusive leadership trainings led by the U.S. Army, designed to help student-leaders define their role within their schools or organizations, and encourage them to make an impact on their communities. Students also take part in exercises where they learn about character and how decision making plays an integral role in leaders.
A panel of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) professionals speak on different topics that showcase different career paths, and the resources and opportunities that are available for Latinos to enter the STEM fields and become future Latino leaders.
Youth and other professionals connected to our LOFT program are then given access to year-long LOFT Innovation Workforce Development programs including Innovation Fellowships, Youth Awards, and other work-based learning opportunities.
HHF’S award-winning LOFT SOURCE program has worked with companies like ExxonMobil, Google, Time Warner, PwC, and BBVA Compass.
Participants will leave the LOFT STEM Symposium with an understanding of what it takes to be a leader.
