Mercado Global Honors Antonio Tijerino of Hispanic Heritage Foundation for His Impact at Earth Day Celebration in San Francisco on April 18th

 SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Mercado Global will honor Hispanic Heritage Foundation President and CEO, Antonio Tijerino, during their annual gala on April 18th in celebration of Earth Day at The Pearl in San Francisco, CA.  Tijerino will be recognized for his impact on communities in the US and Latin America through his innovative, actionable approach along with Bank of the West CEO Nandita Bakhshi, Levi Strauss & Co. President and CEO Michelle Gass, and Netreo head Jasmin Young.

The Mercado Global Gala is a beloved Bay Area event held to raise awareness and funds for Mercado Global, a nonprofit that empowers Indigenous women artisans in rural Latin America with the skills and international market access they need to become independent entrepreneurs. This year will also celebrate Mercado Global’s 20th anniversary and will host fashion and corporate industry leadership.

 Antonio Tijerino has been at the helm of the Hispanic Heritage Foundation, a national nonprofit focused on education, workforce, social innovation, and culture through leadership, for 23 years.  HHF under Tijerino’s leaderhip is recognized as a creative, agile, impact-focused organization recognized by The White House, US Congress, Fortune 500 companies, other nonprofits and the Government of Mexico. Tijerino is also executive producer of the Hispanic Heritage Awards at the Kennedy Center, which are broadcast on PBS. Prior to HHF, Tijerino was an executive at Fannie Mae Foundation, Nike, Burson Marsteller, and Cohn & Wolfe.

Nicaraguan -born, Tijerino also hosts the Fritanga Podcast, is a LinkedIn influencer, blogger and is a national voice on various issues impacting the Latino community and is even a Minecraft character.  He has made it his mission to present the value proposition Latinos provide America from the Border to Washington, DC, and across every industry and field.
