CAROLINA HERRERA (Fashion): Introduction, Honoree Profile, Acceptance
“I am deeply touched and honored to receive the Fashion Award of the Hispanic Heritage Foundation. I have admired and respected this organization for so many years. Their work and dedication have been important for us Latinos in this very generous country. I also want to share this fabulous award with my fellow Venezuelans that are suffering and waiting for a free Venezuela. ¡Una Venezuela libre!” –Carolina Herrera
JULIO TORRES (Vision): Introduction, Honoree Profile, Acceptance
“I think that my work examines this idea of who gets to be seen and who doesn’t, and why. Who gets the benefit of empathy, and who is a nameless, faceless part of a mass trying to say cross the border, and just to have a better future with their families or who is nameless and is just part of a mass of people being bombed and their cities wiped out completely… I feel very, very seen by this award. And I’m very aware that being seen is a privilege. And I really, really mean to honor it. and I will continue to do so. Thank you so much” – Julio Torres
CARMELO ANTHONY (Sports): Introduction, Honoree Profile, Acceptance
“I’m in constant admiration of all the strength of my talented Hispanic brothers and sisters, and that’s being represented here tonight…This recognition is symbolic of the journey that made me who I am today – a proud Afro-Latino and an even prouder Boricua. As an athlete, I’ve had the honor of representing not only my team and my city but also my heritage and my people. Every moment of success or challenge was an opportunity to carry the weight of my culture, our community, and my ancestors’ dreams. I aimed to use my platform to embody the resilience and pride of the Brown and Black trailblazers who paved the way for me.” – Carmelo Anthony
REA ANN SILVA (Entrepreneurship): Introduction, Honoree Profile, Acceptance
“I never ever imagined as a makeup artist, and single mother living in a small apartment in Van Nuys, California that I would one day be standing here. On stage, not backstage. At the historic Kennedy Center in Washington DC! Being honored as a Latina! Our community represents one of the fastest growing entrepreneurial populations in the world! Still, only about 3% of CEO and board member positions are held by Latinas. However, with the help of our community, through endeavors like “Latina’s Acting Up,” with boots on the ground and fighting the good fight for things like… Equal representation…AND EQUAL PAY! But we’re gonna get there, as long as we keep supporting each other and keep supporting organizations like the Hispanic Heritage Foundation.” – Rea Ann Silva
ROBERTO CLEMENTE Remembrance: Introduction, Honoree Profile, Acceptance
“On behalf of my family. I accept this award with deep gratitude and pride in my father, Roberto Clemente.
