HHF partners with SXSW for SXSW Interactive Week!

The Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) is taking part of SXSW Interactive Week in Austin, Texas!

President and CEO, Antonio Tijerino, spoke at the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce (GAHCC) Luncheon: A New Chapter in U.S.- Mexico Relations on Thursday March 9th, hosted by Mark Madrid, President and CEO of The Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce.

In partnership with Charter Communications, HHF presents ‘Hacking a Career in Tech,’ (HACT) focusing on immediate career paths for the next generation workforce!

HACT will be hosted by Charter Communications, and HHF will be joined by local partners GAHCC, and the Consulate General of Mexico. HACT will take place Saturday, March 11, from 12:30-2:30 p.m., as part of the Consulate’s Casa Mexico 3-day forum at the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center, Black Box Theater.

HACT is an interactive program where students work with experts, led by Charter volunteers and Tech leader Kety Esquivel, Senior Vice President at Edelman, to present their careers and work together to craft an ideal career path for students! Students will have the opportunity to network, and engage with leaders in their respective fields.

On Sunday, March 12th from 5-6 p.m., HHF partners with SXSW to host ‘Latinos in Tech Solving Wealth Disparity Gaps,’ Panel at the Austin Convention Center Trade Show- Next Stage-  Exhibit Hall 4. Betty Salanic, HHF representative will be moderating the panel to audience professionals and thought leaders. Panelists speaking include Ramona Ortega, Founder and CEO of My Money My Future, Sean Salas, Co-Founder and CEO of Camino Financial, and Tony Aguilar, Co-Founder of Student Loan Genius.

There are 3 million  vacant jobs in the Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) related fields, and HHF is working closely with community leaders and other organizations to close the gap in STEM! To learn more about HHF’S CSL program leading Latino leaders go here!
