California governor appoints Hispanic Heritage Foundation Board Member Stacie Olivares-Castain to the California Public Employees’ Retirement System Board of Administrators

LOS ANGELES, CA – Governor Gavin Newsom announced that Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) Board Member Stacie Olivares-Castain of Culver City, CA, has been appointed to the California Public Employees’ Retirement System Board of Administration.

“Stacie helped create our Investors Forum and has been integral to its development as we provide educational content to the investment community and build a diverse network of investors and asset managers,” said Emanuel Pleitez, Chair of HHF. “Stacie’s vision has helped improve the asset management industry through diversity through her profound understanding that diversity leads to better investments. Stacie will continue to drive positive impact as a leader on the board of the largest public pension fund in the U.S., CalPERS. The world looks to CalPERS for how best to manage their assets. Now, CalPERS will have Stacie to help shape the future of the industry. We are very proud to have her on the HHF board and as an important contributor to our mission.”

Olivares-Castain has been the chief investment officer at Lendistry since 2019, was a senior advisor on impact investments and blockchain at the California Department of Insurance from 2017-2019 and served as managing director and chief investment officer at the California Organized Investment Network (COIN) 2011-2017. Prior, Olivares-Castain was a guided portfolio manager at Morgan Stanley 2008-2011 and executive director of the California Commission for Economic Development 2002-2007. She earned a Master of Public Policy degree in business and government from Harvard University after graduating from University of California at Berkeley.

As a Board Member, Olivares-Castain has been instrumental in the development of HHF’s Investors’ Forum aligning with her passion in building ventures and investments that yield strong social impacts. Olivares-Castain has also mentored and supported HHF’s award-winning youth development programs across the country. In addition, she has worked on the border in support of migrant families and children.
