HHF Hosts 2nd Annual LOFT Investors Forum

The Treasurer of The United States Rosie Rios and The Treasurer of California John Chiang to Keynote Forum of 100 Participants

LOS ANGELES, CA – Hispanic Heritage Foundation’s (“HHF”) Latinos On Fast Track (LOFT) program hosted the 2nd Annual LOFT Investors Forum (the “Forum”) of Latino pension fund trustees, investment staff, and early-career finance professionals on June 23 – 24, 2015.  The Forum’s official partner was the California State Teachers Retirement System (“CalSTRS”).

The Forum promotes best practices, education, and a talent pipeline.  Panelists discussed personal experiences of trustees; board governance and fiduciary responsibilities; macroeconomic outlook; shareholder activism; asset allocation and risk management; equities; fixed income; real estate and real assets; private markets; hedge funds; regional, community, and impact investing; as well as specialized, diverse, and emerging manager programs.

The Latino trustees and investment staff form pension funds with approximately $1 trillion in combined assets have registered to attend.  Net proceeds of the effort will fund LOFT’s Finance Track including financial literacy and talent development initiatives in underserved communities.  Opportunities to attend or sponsor are still available (for more information contact Dennis Fox at [email protected] or visit www.LOFTInvestorsForum.org).

At the Forum, HHF will highlight Mina Pacheco Nazemi, Partner at GCM Grosvenor, with the LOFT Inspira Award for her impact on the finance industry as a Latina leader as well as for serving as a source of inspiration and guidance to other Latinos and Latinas in finance.  In addition to her professional contributions, Mina has displayed a lasting commitment to making a difference in the community.  She embodies the spirit of the LOFT program,” said Emanuel Pleitez, Chairman of the Hispanic Heritage Foundation and former Commissioner of the Board of Administration at the Los Angeles Fire and Police Pension system.

Keynote speakers will include the Treasurer of the United States, Rosie Rios, the Treasurer of California and trustee at CalPERS and CalSTRS, John Chiang, and founder of the Westly Group and former controller of California, Steve Westly.
