The Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) welcomed students from the Ivy League Project, (ILP) who made the trek from rural California along with ILP’s founder, Martín Mares.

ILP was founded by Martín in 1992 to encourage economically disadvantaged students to apply to the most prestigious universities in the Nation. Industry and community leaders Frances Colon, Andres, Chong-Qui and Matt Garcia addressed the full house at the Foundation’s Washington, D.C. headquarters.

As the program selects the most talented and promising 10th and 11th grade students and takes them to visit the top universities on the east coast, it is important for the Foundation to encourage actionable support.

“If my brother can graduate then I could do it, and if I can do it, anyone can do it. We just have to make a couple more sacrifices”-Ivy League Project participant.

The Ivy League Project is celebrating 25 years of success with its Annual Ivy League East Coast Tour. Students selected will be visiting Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Brown, Columbia, MIT, Wellesley, Wesleyan, Georgetown, American and UPenn all during spring break of April 8-15, 2017.

In addition, students will be able to tour the Statue of Liberty, historical Boston, and other historical sites in Washington D.C. ILP announced more than 268 students over the past 24 years have been accepted or graduated from East Coast Schools during the past twenty-four years.

ILP raises college awareness for Ivy league schools at an early age so students could focus on which Ivy league they want to attend over whether or not they can make it in.

Students from ILP learned more about the Foundation, and all the work we do. Some of HHF’s programs  include Code as a Second Language (CSL), Youth Awards, and ESA Video Game Innovation Fellowship!

HHF was honored to have these students tour the HHF office in Washington, D.C., and learn more about all of the opportunities they can be a part of across the country!
