Since 2015, Code as a Second Language (CSL) has broken down barriers to tech education by delivering culturally responsive coding and computer science (CS) instruction to Latino students across the U.S. and internationally.
250,000+ students introduced to CS through CSL across 26+states.
Through partnerships with AT&T, IBM, Microsoft, Google, Nickelodeon, Infosys, General Motors, and more, CSL has scaled culturally relevant tech education and mentorship from elementary school through adulthood.
Its main components include:
- Technical Training – Teaching foundational CS education to K-12 students, focused on digital literacy, creative problem-solving, and real-world applications.
- Summits – Cultivating the ecosystem of Latino technical talent across the country via our LOFT Coder Summits.
- Internships and Fellowships – Bridging the education-work gap by connecting students to opportunities with partner companies to gain hands-on experience and contribute to efforts that foster a more diverse workforce.
The goal is to supply students with an introductory skillset of web design and computer programming, while instilling an entrepreneurial spirit. CSL provides students with access to year-round leadership and workforce development opportunities. All students will be funneled to the LOFT Network.
