Hispanic Heritage Foundation Production Internship

Overview

The Hispanic Heritage Foundation Production Internship will begin no later than Monday, June 3rd, 2024 and run through Friday, September 28th and support the HHF production department across a variety of projects with a focus on assisting with production duties for The 37th Hispanic Heritage Awards, taping September 3rd through 6th in Washington DC. For the remainder of the month of September, the intern will sit in on and assist with post production as the show is edited and delivered to PBS. All applications are due no later than Friday, May 3rd, 2024.

To best support the production department, the ideal candidate will be based in Washington DC for the duration of the internship. The internship may include opportunities for travel to assist with remote shoots and other production needs, so a willingness to travel is preferred. Candidates should be currently enrolled in or recent graduates of an undergraduate or graduate program in arts management, film, music, theater, dance or a similar degree program and ideally have experience working in live event and show production or in film and video production; those without a degree who have comparable work experience are also encouraged to apply. Candidates should have a demonstrated passion for or interest in Hispanic arts, media, and culture; Spanish fluency is a plus but not required.

This will be a part time, paid internship; the production intern will work a minimum of twenty (20) hours per week with the possibility for additional hours based on HHF’s need and the intern’s availability and will be paid a rate of seventeen dollars and fifty cents ($17.50) an hour.

Duties

Internship duties may include but not be limited to:

  • Substantively contributing to creative conversations surrounding the look, feel, and casting of The Hispanic Heritage Awards
  • Assisting with finding best point of contact for talent, vendors, and contractors the shows producers may wish to engage
  • Coordinating scheduling for HHF’s production staff
  • Traveling to and assisting onsite with remote video shoots
  • Taking, editing, and disseminating meeting notes as requested
  • Proofing and editing copy
  • Researching potential show honorees and performers
  • Assisting show producers onsite at The John F Kennedy Center for The Performing Arts during show taping September 3rd through 6th
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience and Qualifications

The following qualifications describe an ideal candidate; we encourage anyone with an interest in the internship to apply, even if you do not meet all of the listed requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of an undergraduate or graduate program in arts management, film, music, theater, or dance or have comparable work experience
  • Experience in live event and/or film and media production
  • A demonstrated passion for or interest in telling Hispanic stories
  • Willingness to work twenty hours a week for the duration of the internship
  • Strong organizational and research skills
  • Flexibility and comfort working in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to self motivate and complete assigned tasks with minimal oversight
  • Resides in Washington DC

What You’ll Receive

  • Hourly pay at a rate of seventeen dollars and fifty cents ($17.50) an hour for a minimum of twenty hours a week
  • The opportunity to contribute to and be credited on a nationally televised special
  • Upon completion of the internship, intern will receive a letter of recommendation and consideration for full time roles at HHF, subject to availability and need
